The use of 8-hydroxyquinoline as tluorometric developer for amino acids has been reported! recently. In present studies detailed investigations have been carried out to measure quanti­tatively the tluorometric signal for sixteen 8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives of amino acids. The inten­sity of tluorceseence signal at various IDter combinations and slit widths has been measured and limits of detection calculated by statistically .malysing the experimental data. The secondary effects encountered in similar tluorometric procedures2,3 have been eliminated in this procedure.The present method offers needed sensitivity, accuracy and simplicity, for both screening and confirmatory tests of all amino acids.
