Six complexes of 2-thiazoline-2-thiol (HL) with triorganotin(IV) and chlorodiorganotin(IV), [R3SnL {R = CH3 (1), n-C4H9 (2) C6H5 (3)}; R2SnClL {R = CH3 (4), n-C4H9 (5) C6H5 (6)}], have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and multinuclear NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Spectroscopic studies revealed that ligand act as monodentate. NMR data suggested that tin atom is tetra-coordinated in triorganotin(IV) complexes (1-3). The biological screening results show that complexes exhibited strong antibacterial and antifungal activity. Biofilm inhibition activity of these complexes was also found satisfactory. The in vitro hemolytic activity data showed that these complexes are least cytotoxic.
