Synthetic biscoumarins 1-19 were screened to check their anti-leishmanial activity. Out of nineteen, analogs 2 (IC50 = 46.95 ± 1.23 µM), 4 (IC50 = 63.03 ± 0.20 µM), 5 (IC50 = 41.35 ± 0.51 µM), 6 (IC50 = 35.62 ± 0.15 µM), 7 (IC50 = 75.35 ± 0.35 µM), 10 (IC50 = 82.36 ± 1.93 µM), 11 (IC50 = 76.45 ± 0.13 µM), 16 (IC50 = 59.21 ± 1.00 µM), 18 (IC50 = 75.73 ± 1.54 µM), and 19 (IC50 = 76.43 ± 0.04 µM) exhibited moderate to weak anti-leishmanial potential, if compared with the standard pentamidine (IC50 = 5.09 ± 0.04 µM), whilst rest of the analogs were found to be inactive.
