The epimeric alcohols Salts and 12a14a have been synthesized and the solvolysis of their p-toluenesulphonates has been investigated. A small accellaration in the rate ratio for the exo/ endo epimers has been observed, explained on the basis of the cation IV. No steric effects have been observed due to the introduction of the methyl group as is evident in the solvolysis of 12a14a derivatives.
