A comparative study of already reported methods for the syntheses of 4-hydroxy-3-carbomethoxy-2-methy-2H-1, 2-benzothiazinc 1, I dioxide (4) has been carried out. Cost effective, cheaper and indigenously felsitic, easy to handle synthetic route has been devised with best yields and purity.
