Copper(II), nickel(II) and palladium(II) complexes of bis(isopropanoylacetone)dl-stilbenedi imine(dl-HlA25) and nickel( I I) and palladium(I I) complexes of bis(isopropanoylacetone)meso-stilbenediimine(meso-H2PA25) are prepared for their possible use for gas chromatographic separation of copper, nickel and palladium. The reagents and metal complexes are characterizedusing IR, UV, IHNMR and mass spectroscopic techniques. The metal complexes are somewhat volatile as evident from their DTA and TG curves and complete separation between nickel and palladium of both ligands is achieved, but i ncomp 1 ete separa ti on is demonstrated between copper and ni cke 1 complexes. Linear calibration range and detection limits of the complexes are determined.
